Euro Edges Higher Against Pound on Diverging ECB-BoE Expectations
The Euro (EUR) is holding an upper hand against the British Pound (GBP) due to differing expectations from the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of England (BoE).
According to the ECB, inflation may remain above the 2% target for an extended period. This has strengthened the case for additional interest rate hikes in the near future.
In contrast, the BoE kept its Bank Rate unchanged at 3.75% despite UK inflation staying above the central bank's 2% target. Analysts expect the BoE to leave borrowing costs unchanged in upcoming meetings.
