Euro Faces Challenging Period Ahead of Fed Rate Decision

Instruments
EUR USD
Share

The EUR/USD pair has experienced significant losses over the last four trading sessions, declining by nearly 0.81%. This decline reinforces a bearish bias in favor of the U.S. dollar and indicates that selling pressure remains strong.

Market expectations for a more aggressive Federal Reserve have increased, with a greater than 92% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike expected tomorrow. This would lift the benchmark rate from 3.75% to around 4.00%. Furthermore, there is a 41% probability that interest rates could rise further toward 4.25% by the October 28 decision.

The yield differential between U.S. and European bonds continues to favor the dollar in the foreign exchange market. Higher interest rates and stronger Treasury yields have increased the appeal of USD-denominated investments, making it challenging for the euro to regain momentum in the near term.
