Euro Gains Ground Despite Middle East Tensions and US Tariff Plans

The Euro has gained ground against the US Dollar despite rising tensions in the Middle East. The EUR/USD exchange rate is currently trading around 1.1380, a modest gain from previous losses. However, this potential upside may be limited as the US Dollar could regain strength due to escalating conflicts and their impact on crude oil prices.

Geopolitical tensions have been escalating following reports of an attack by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi militant group on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. In response, the US has conducted military strikes on Iran for 13 consecutive nights. US President Donald Trump has warned of 'major military punishment' for both the Houthis and Iran if attacks continue.

The US is also planning to impose new tariffs ranging between 10% and 12.5% on imports from major trading partners, including the European Union. This move aims to rebuild the Trump administration's trade barriers following a recent Supreme Court ruling.
