Euro Plummets Below 99 Som, Ruble Keeps Rising in Kyrgyzstan
The Kyrgyzstani som has appreciated against several major currencies on October 2, according to data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan and exchange offices in Bishkek. The euro, which has been declining against the som since September, dropped below 99 soms for the first time this year.
The official exchange rate of the NB KR is at 98.7189 soms, down 0.6 percent from yesterday. In exchange offices, the buying price is around 98.17 soms and the selling price is approximately 99.15 soms.
On the other hand, the Russian ruble has shown steady growth, increasing by 0.63 percent to 1.047 soms. The Kazakh tenge and Chinese yuan have lost some value, with the NB KR's official exchange rate at 0.198 soms for the Kazakh tenge (down 0.1 percent) and 13.0429 soms for the Chinese yuan (no significant changes).
The US dollar has remained relatively stable, with an official exchange rate of 87.447 soms and average rates in exchange offices at buying 87.39 soms and selling 87.8 soms.
