The euro weakened against all Group of Ten currencies as investors shifted their focus from the dollar to target the common currency amid growing concerns over fiscal and political risks in the region.
On Wednesday, the euro slipped as much as 0.4% against the British pound, reaching 84.48 pence, its lowest level since June 2025. The currency also remained near a one-year low against the Japanese yen, following an earlier drop to a 17-month low against the US dollar this week.
The decline reflects broader investor anxiety over regional economic and political uncertainties, prompting bearish bets against the euro. This shift in sentiment highlights the euro's vulnerability as traders look beyond traditional safe-haven currencies like the dollar to express negative views on the common currency.
