Euro Rises Against CAD Amid Diverging Interest Rates and Middle East Tensions
The Euro has seen an increase in value against the Canadian Dollar for three consecutive sessions, reaching around 1.6110 during European trading hours on Monday.
This trend is largely due to a widening interest rate differential between Canada and other major economies, particularly following the Bank of Canada's decision to maintain its key policy rate at 2.25% in September.
The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its deposit facility to 2.50%, contributing to the divergence in monetary policy between the two regions.
HSBC analysts caution that the Euro remains vulnerable to uncertainty over the ECB's appetite to raise rates, particularly when compared to the Federal Reserve's more hawkish messaging at its September meeting.
