Euro Slides Against USD Amid Rejected Peace Proposal and Rising Oil Prices
The Euro has slipped against the US Dollar on Monday as investors took a risk-off approach following the rejection of the latest peace proposal in the Middle East by US President Donald Trump. This development lifted oil prices, with Brent Crude trading above $100 per barrel.
This increase in oil prices puts additional pressure on already strained Eurozone economies, while the strong data and rising Treasury yields continue to support the US Dollar.
Analysts at Societe Generale suggest that despite a positive short-term outlook for the US Dollar, the longer-term outlook may be less favorable due to evolving global savings patterns and the potential impact of midterm elections on President Trump's accommodative fiscal policies.
