Euro Stalls Against Pound at Key Resistance Zone
The Euro (EUR) struggled to break through resistance against the British Pound (GBP), stalling at the top of an ascending triangle formation between 0.8580 and 0.8585.
This level has consistently held back gains for EUR/GBP, and Wednesday's trading saw the pair trade near 0.8573, with momentum indicators lacking a clear directional bias.
Earlier in the day, European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member Joachim Nagel stated that markets see 'over 95% chances of a September rate hike', but this did not translate into sustained Euro strength.
The technical picture remains mixed, with some analysts viewing triangles as continuation structures and favoring a bullish resolution. A decisive break above 0.8585 would open the way toward the late June lows marginally above 0.8600, while a move below 0.8560 would expose the August 25 low at 0.8546.
