Euro Surges Against Canadian Dollar on Strong German Sentiment Data
The Euro gained strength against the Canadian Dollar on Thursday after upbeat German economic sentiment data was released. The IFO Business Climate Index for September rose to 89.9, beating forecasts of 89.0 and last month's reading of 88.8.
The Current Assessment Index also climbed to 89.5 from 88.5 in August, while the Expectations Index accelerated to 90.4 against a consensus of 89.3.
Despite the Euro's appreciation, analysts warn that upside potential for the EUR/CAD pair may be limited due to the commodity-linked Canadian Dollar's resilience.
The CAD remains firm amid cautious market sentiment and geopolitical tensions driving crude oil prices, with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian delivering a defiant address at the UN General Assembly.
