Euro Surges vs Yen as BoJ Rate Hike Fails to Lift Currency
The Euro (EUR) has gained ground against the Japanese Yen (JPY) after the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) latest policy announcement.
On Friday, the BoJ increased its short-term interest rate by 25 basis points to 1.25% from 1.00%, in line with market expectations.
The European Central Bank (ECB) also raised its deposit rate to 2.50% and maintained a hawkish tone, with markets pricing in further tightening this year.
