Euro Zone Bond Selloff Pauses as Oil Prices Keep Pressure
The euro zone bond selloff has paused for now, but oil prices are still putting pressure on markets.
Germany's 10-year yield, a benchmark for the euro zone, fell by 1 basis point to 3.247%, its lowest in two days after hitting a 15-year high of 3.248% on Tuesday.
This drop comes as U.S. Treasury yields stabilized, with a small rally helping sentiment. Hauke Siemssen, rates strategist at Commerzbank, said bond markets are showing tentative signs of stabilization, but yields have still breached crucial levels.
Oil prices remained elevated, however, with Brent crude up 1% to $91.60, its highest since late July. The increase in oil prices is stoking inflation concerns and high levels of government borrowing, which are contributing to higher bond yields.
