Euro Zone Consumers Nudge Up Inflation Expectations
According to a recent poll by the European Central Bank (ECB), consumers in the euro zone have nudged up their inflation expectations. The survey, which is part of the ECB's regular Economic Bulletin, showed that inflation expectations rose slightly from the previous quarter.
The poll found that consumers' average inflation expectation for the next 12 months increased to 2.3%, up from 2.2% in the previous quarter. This marks a modest increase, but it is still below the ECB's target of keeping annual inflation at just under 2%.
It's worth noting that while inflation expectations have risen slightly, they remain relatively stable and well within the ECB's target range. The survey also found that consumers' medium-term inflation expectations, which are measured over a period of five years, remained unchanged at 1.8%.
