Euro Zone Inflation Expectations Decline Amid Temporary Energy Price Relief
Consumers in the Euro zone have become less optimistic about inflation, according to a recent European Central Bank (ECB) poll. The median respondent expected inflation over the next 12 months to be at 3.0% in June, down from 3.5% in May.
This decline is likely due to the temporary decrease in energy prices following the truce in the Middle East, although this truce proved short-lived.
Expectations for inflation three years ahead also decreased to 2.8% from 2.9%, while the view five years ahead remained unchanged at 2.4%. The ECB's Consumer Expectations Survey provides valuable insights into consumer sentiment and its impact on future price trends.
