Europe Stocks Rise Amid Falling Oil Prices and AI Optimism
European stocks rose for the first time in six sessions as falling oil prices eased inflationary pressures and renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence lifted technology shares. The STOXX 600 index climbed 0.17% to 643.86 points, while U.S. equity futures were slightly higher.
The gains came despite ongoing tensions with Iran, which have kept markets on edge. Saudi Arabia reportedly restarted operations at its East-West Pipeline and may already be resuming exports from the Red Sea port of Yanbu, adding to downward pressure on crude prices.
However, investors remain cautious about treating any diplomatic developments as a durable turning point. 'We've been through a series of starts and stops like this,' said Cole Smead, CEO and portfolio manager at Smead Capital Management.
