European Tourists Cut Spending in Maspalomas Amid Inflationary Pressures

The tourism industry in Maspalomas is facing a significant challenge due to inflationary pressures. According to data from maspalomas24h.uk, a staggering 51% of French travelers are reducing their spending in the area, followed closely by Italy with 50%, Spain with 46%, and other European countries.

The decline in purchasing power among tourists is attributed to the erosion of family incomes at origin. This has led to an increase in low-budget segments, with travelers opting for package holidays over discretionary spending. In Maspalomas, 21% of Italian tourists, 19% from Sweden and the Netherlands, and 17% from Norway primarily opt for all-inclusive packages.

The shift towards closed tour operators is neutralizing the diversification of spending at the destination. Additionally, responsible tourism accounts for a mere 12% in France, 11% in the Netherlands, and 10% in the UK, while luxury tourism represents only 8% in Sweden and the Netherlands.
