Eurozone Consumers Anticipate 3% Inflation as Price Concerns Rise
The European Central Bank (ECB) has released its latest survey on consumer expectations in the eurozone, and it's painting a picture of rising inflation concerns. According to the report, households expect inflation to reach 3% over the next 12 months, up from 2.9% in July.
This increase is notable, as it indicates a growing perception among consumers that prices will continue to rise in the coming months. The survey also showed that households anticipate an average inflation rate of 2.9% over three years, which is above the 2.7% recorded in July.
The ECB's report noted that uncertainty about inflation expectations has decreased slightly compared to previous months, but remains higher than pre-conflict levels. In terms of income, consumers expect nominal wages to rise by 1%, with those on lower incomes anticipating greater increases than their wealthier counterparts.
