Eurozone Economy Defies Challenges, But Inflation Lingers
The eurozone's resilience in the face of various challenges has been on full display according to the latest PMI report. The composite PMI for September came in at 53.1, up from 52.0 in August.
This marks a significant increase in economic activity, with services being the main driver behind this jump. The sector saw a notable rise from 51.6 to 53.0, which is somewhat puzzling given the current inflationary pressures.
Germany, in particular, experienced an increase in services activity, rising from 49.7 to 52.9, which seems almost too good to be true.
The manufacturing sector also showed improvement, with the eurozone as a whole holding up well. However, France's manufacturing PMI dropped perilously close to the 50-threshold, raising some red flags.
