Eurozone Inflation Hits 3-Year High of 3.8%
The Eurozone's inflation rate has reached its highest level in over two years. According to recent data, annual inflation rose to 3.8% in September, surpassing market forecasts and the European Central Bank's 2% target.
This increase from 3.2% in August is a significant jump, exceeding expectations of 3.6%. The ECB's inflation target remains at 2%, which it has been trying to meet since the start of its monetary policy tightening cycle.
The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, came in at 2.5%, aligning with market predictions. This suggests that underlying price pressures are still moderate despite the recent rise in headline inflation.
