Eurozone Inflation Hits 3.2%, Remains Above ECB Target
The Eurozone's consumer price growth accelerated to 3.2% in the twelve months leading up to August, according to final estimates from Eurostat.
This rate is slower than a preliminary reading of 3.3%, but still significantly higher than the European Central Bank's target level of 2%.
The ongoing war in the Middle East has led to supply constraints and a subsequent surge in natural gas prices, contributing to elevated consumer prices across Europe.
The ECB recently raised interest rates for the second time this year to address energy-driven inflation, warning that price gains will remain above target for an extended period.
