Eurozone Inflation Hits 3.3% Amid Greek Rate Surge

Greece's inflation rate accelerated to 3.7% in August, according to Eurostat, marking a sharp increase from 2.7% in July.

The eurozone also saw a rise in annual inflation, reaching 3.3% in August from 2.9% in July, putting pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB) ahead of its September meeting.

Energy prices were the main driver of inflation in both Greece and the eurozone, rising 14.3% year-on-year in August compared to 10.3% in July.

In Germany, consumer price index rose 2.9% year-on-year in August, marking the strongest reading since April but remaining below the 3.1% median forecast in a Bloomberg survey.
