Eurozone Inflation Hits 3.8%, Energy Costs Drive Spike
The Eurozone's inflation rate has spiked to 3.8% year-over-year in September, marking the highest rate in three years and exceeding economists' forecasts of a 3.6% rise.
According to the flash estimate from Eurostat, prices rose by 0.6% in September compared to August, with energy costs accounting for nearly half of the inflation rate at an annual rate of 18.8%, up from 14.3% in August.
This increase has left the European Central Bank (ECB) with concerns about whether this is a temporary shock or the start of broader price pressure.
