Eurozone Inflation Rate Revised Down to 3.2%
The Eurozone's inflation rate for August has been revised downward to 3.2%, according to official data released on September 17th. This slight change from the initial estimate of 3.3% marks a deceleration in consumer price rises within the 21-nation single currency area.
The European Central Bank (ECB) had raised interest rates last week for the second time this year, citing renewed Middle East fighting as a concern for higher inflation. The revised data also shows that food and drinks inflation slowed to 1.1% in August, down from 1.2% in July.
Inflation remains above the ECB's 2% target, with some countries using the euro still experiencing higher rates. France, the EU's second-largest economy, saw its inflation rate revised downward to 2.6%, down from an initial estimate of 2.7%.
