Eurozone Inflation Soars to Highest Level Since Middle East Conflict Began
European inflation rates have soared to their highest level since the start of the Middle East war, driven by rising energy costs. August's headline inflation rate hit 3.3%, marking a significant increase from previous months.
The jump in energy prices has been particularly pronounced, with year-on-year increases reaching 14.3%. Goods inflation has also risen, standing at 1.2% as of August, up from 0.7% in June.
However, food and services inflation have remained relatively stable, with food inflation holding steady at 1.2% and services inflation dropping back to 3% from 3.3% the previous month.
The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile energy prices, has been contained at 2.4%, the same level as in February before the conflict began.
