Eurozone Inflation Surges to 3-Year High
The Eurozone inflation rate rose sharply to 3.8% in September, exceeding market expectations and reaching its highest level since September 2023.
The annual rate increased from 3.2% in August and surpassed the forecasted 3.6%, which is also well above the European Central Bank's 2% target.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile components, stood at 2.5%, matching expectations.
Energy prices were a major driver of inflation, with energy inflation reaching 18.8%, its highest level since January 2023, due to the ongoing Middle East conflict's impact on global energy markets.
