Eurozone Inflation Surges to 3.8% as Euro Gains Traction
The Eurozone's flash Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 3.8% year-over-year in September, exceeding market expectations of 3.7%. This marks a significant acceleration from the previous reading of 3.2%.
Monthly CPI inflation also picked up pace, rising by 0.6% month-over-month in September, outpacing forecasts of 0.5%. Core CPI inflation, which strips away volatile food and energy prices, came in at 2.5% year-over-year, in line with expectations.
The euro's reaction to the news has been muted, with a slight gain against the pound sterling.
