Eurozone Services Sector Defies Expectations with Modest Growth

The Eurozone's services sector showed surprising resilience in July, according to data from S&P Global. The HCOB Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 51.6, exceeding market expectations of 51.5 and indicating a modest expansion.

This marks the fifth consecutive month that the services sector has remained in positive territory, driven by stable consumer demand for services such as tourism, hospitality, and financial services.

New business inflows increased moderately, while employment levels continued to rise, albeit at a slower rate than in previous months. However, the pace of expansion remains below the series' long-term average, reflecting broader economic headwinds facing the region, including elevated inflation and tighter monetary policy.
