Even G2 Prescription Lenses Cost More Than Frame in Japan
Japanese consumers who need prescription lenses for their Even G2 camera-free display glasses face steep costs. A price list released by distributor Acalie and retailer AI Japan Co., Ltd. shows that varifocal lenses can cost up to 150,800 yen, while the frame itself is 99,800 yen. This means that even the most expensive lenses are cheaper than the frame.
The prices are based on three lens indices: 1.60, 1.67, and 1.74. The list also includes single-vision lenses, which are significantly cheaper at 26,800 yen for index 1.60, 37,800 yen for 1.67, and 58,800 yen for 1.74.
The fitting process is done in-store by certified dealers, with a four-week wait time for the prescription lenses to be produced individually for each customer. Only five Aimegane shops across Saitama, Tochigi, and Chiba are currently certified to offer this service.
