Experts Highlight India’s Appeal as Global Investment Destination
India’s robust economic growth, expanding infrastructure, and rising international reputation are making it an increasingly attractive destination for global investors, according to experts at the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2026. The three-day event gathered economists, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss global economic challenges, including geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, and climate risks.
Swedish economist Erik Berglof noted that India has achieved strong economic momentum since the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized the importance of discussions on economic resilience, particularly as countries face risks to energy supplies, trade, and global supply chains. Berglof also highlighted the need for policymakers to balance economic growth with fiscal risks, as prolonged support for households and businesses could strain public finances.
Climate change was another major focus at the conclave. Juliano Assuncao, executive director of the Brazil-based Climate Policy Initiative, stressed that addressing climate change requires international cooperation. He suggested that India and Brazil could play key roles in both mitigating and solving climate risks.
New Zealand economist Prof. John Gibson described the Kautilya Economic Conclave as an important platform for dialogue between researchers and policymakers, with discussions extending beyond India to broader developments in the Asia-Pacific region and the global economy. Japan’s Institute of Geoeconomics director Kazuto Suzuki highlighted the growing intersection of economics, geopolitics, and geoeconomics in shaping investment and business decisions.
