Fake 'PROPS' Notes Flood Northern Rivers

Counterfeit $100 notes are circulating in the Northern Rivers region of Australia, prompting police to issue another warning to businesses. The Richmond Police District has received reports of fake notes turning up at retail stores.

The fake notes carry the word 'PROPS' and have been reported alongside earlier alerts about fake $50 and $20 notes. Businesses are being urged to check their cash carefully, particularly during busy periods.

Retailers are also advised to watch for customers trying to swap larger denominations for smaller notes, as some fakes may not be immediately recognizable. According to the Reserve Bank of Australia, counterfeit notes have no value and will not be reimbursed.
