Fed Adjusts Treasury Bill Purchases in Response to 'Evolving Conditions'
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Roberto Perli has stated that the central bank will continue to evaluate the level of reserves in the market. This comes as purchases of Treasury bills by the Fed have been adjusted in response to 'evolving conditions', rather than being on a pre-set course.
In prepared remarks for an event in New York City, Perli mentioned that these adjustments are necessary due to changing market conditions. He noted that the Federal Open Market Committee had previously given the New York Fed market desk discretion to adjust reserve management purchases earlier this year.
As of now, the level of reserve management purchases stands at zero. However, Perli emphasized that the central bank will continue to monitor and respond to evolving market conditions as necessary.
