Fed Decision Looms as Wall Street Waits on Interest Rate Hike
Wall Street remains steady as investors await the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates. The S&P 500 has risen by 0.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 42 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq composite is up 0.5%.
The Fed is expected to raise interest rates to combat high inflation, a move that would make borrowing more expensive and potentially slow economic growth. This would be the first rate hike since 2023.
Oil prices have eased, with Brent crude falling by 1.1% to $107.59 per barrel. The yield on the 10-year Treasury has also decreased to 4.97%, down from 5.00% late Tuesday.
