Fed Hike Sends Mixed Signals to Global Markets
European stocks rose after the Federal Reserve's rate hike on Wednesday, bucking the trend seen in New York. The Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 both traded over 0.6% higher at the start of Thursday's session.
The UK's FTSE 100 led the pack with a rise of more than 1%, while carmakers and industrials drove gains in France's CAC 40, including Renault which gained over 2%. However, technology stocks went in the opposite direction, with Dassault Systèmes falling 2.4%.
The stronger US dollar and higher yields were seen as more significant market movers, with the greenback reaching a seven-week high against a basket of major currencies. The euro traded at around $1.146, down 0.5% from Wednesday's open.
