The US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged on Wednesday for the fifth consecutive time, despite concerns about inflation. The decision was made by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which voted 9-3 in favor of maintaining the benchmark rate at 3.50%-3.75%. Three officials dissented from this decision: Beth M. Hammack, Neel Kashkari, and Lorie K. Logan.

The FOMC cited solid economic growth and a resilient labor market as reasons for keeping rates unchanged. However, it acknowledged that inflation remains above the central bank's 2% target, attributing part of this to supply shocks in the energy sector.

Despite this, the Fed reaffirmed its commitment to bringing inflation back down to its target level. The decision was not unanimous, with three officials voting for a rate hike.
