The Federal Reserve maintained its benchmark interest rate at 3.5% to 3.75%, despite concerns over persistent inflation and middle east uncertainty.

In a 9-3 vote, the committee chose not to raise rates, with three policymakers dissenting in favor of a one-quarter percentage point increase.

The decision was made to support the Federal Reserve's dual mandate of promoting maximum employment and stable prices.

Although economic growth remains strong, inflation continues to run above the central bank's 2% target, driven by supply shocks in certain sectors such as energy.
