The Federal Reserve held its benchmark interest rate steady at 3.5-3.75 percent in a 9-3 decision, marking the fifth consecutive pause amid concerns over renewed fighting in Iran and President Trump's calls to lower borrowing costs.

Fed Chair Kevin Warsh reaffirmed the central bank's 2 percent inflation target during a press conference, stating that there is 'no soft implicit target.' He also highlighted the U.S. economy's 'impressive resilience' despite recent shocks.

Warsh acknowledged that a rate increase could be part of the solution to high inflation but emphasized that it would not be done in isolation. The three dissenting members - Beth Hammack, Neel Kashkari, and Lorie Logan - preferred to raise the rate by a quarter percentage point.
