The Federal Reserve has decided to hold interest rates steady for the fifth consecutive time following its latest meeting on Wednesday. This decision comes as the board continues to work towards price stability amid stubborn inflation and renewed conflict in the Middle East.

President Trump had expressed his desire for lower interest rates, stating that he believes they should be lowered. However, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized the Fed's dual-track priorities: a strong job market and lower inflation.

Warsh noted that the ongoing conflict with Iran has sent energy prices soaring at times, complicating the Fed's inflation fight. He stated that June's inflation numbers were generally positive but reflected conditions before the war resumed.

The economy is showing impressive resilience even with recent shocks,' Warsh said. The trends are positive and reveal solid growth. Job gains have kept pace with the workforce and the unemployment rate has changed little. Inflation remains elevated relative to the committee's 2% goal.'
