The U.S. Federal Reserve kept interest rates steady for the fifth consecutive time in its latest monetary policy meeting, holding the target range for the federal funds rate at 3.5 to 3.75 percent.

This decision comes as widely expected by the market and follows a wait-and-see stance from the Fed for five meetings in a row.

The move also reflects growing expectations for an interest rate hike in the coming months, with a 90 percent probability indicated by CME FedWatch that rates will be at least a quarter-point higher by January 2027.
