Fed Maintains US Economic Optimism Despite Wars

The Federal Reserve is maintaining its optimism about the US economy's resilience despite ongoing wars. Bank of America (BofA) is sticking to its forecast for two more rate hikes this year, and questioning whether additional tightening will be enough to bring inflation back down to 2%.

In a recent client note, BofA analysts expressed skepticism about the Fed's ability to achieve this goal with just slightly higher interest rates. They pointed out that after five years of failure, it may be overly optimistic to think that inflation can be reduced to 2% by 2029 through rate hikes alone.

This is a significant concern, as most economists and financial professionals now believe the Fed's plan is achievable. BofA's analysts are not convinced, however, and warn that even 75 basis points of additional tightening may not be enough to achieve the desired result.
