Fed Officials Signal Potential Rate Hike as Inflation Concerns Mount
New York Federal Reserve President John Williams has signaled another rate hike before the end of this year. Speaking at the London Macro Policy Forum, he stated that investor sentiment shows 'it's likely that another rate hike may be appropriate by the end of the year.'
This assessment aligns with the recent unanimous decision by the Fed to increase interest rates, which also came with a hawkish tone from Chairman Kevin Warsh. He emphasized the need for price stability and stated that inflation is 'too high' and has been so for too long.
The chances of another rate hike after the next meeting now stand above 68%, according to the CME Group's FedWatch tool, a significant increase compared to last week when it was 55.4%.
