Fed Officials Weigh in as Markets Eye Next Rate Move
U.S. financial markets are bracing for a closely watched session on September 29 as new economic data and comments from Federal Reserve officials provide fresh insights into the central bank's next interest-rate decision.
The calendar includes several key releases, including the Case-Shiller home price index, consumer confidence data, and JOLTS job openings. These indicators will offer a new reading on U.S. residential property prices, household sentiment, and labor demand.
According to Coin Bureau, four Federal Reserve officials are scheduled to speak, providing additional guidance on the direction of monetary policy. This comes after the Fed raised its benchmark interest-rate target by 25 basis points on September 16, bringing the federal funds target range to 3.75% to 4.00%
The data releases and Fed officials' remarks will be closely watched for their potential influence on interest-rate expectations. The new data arrives as investors assess whether economic activity remains strong enough to support further monetary tightening or whether policymakers will have reasons to pause.
