Fed Seeks to Tame Inflation with Higher Interest Rates
After five years of struggling to meet its inflation target, the Federal Reserve has finally shown signs of success. Under new leadership, led by Chairman Kevin Warsh, the Fed is confident that it can bring down the rate of inflation to 2% by 2029 with slightly higher interest rates. According to chief economist Gregory Daco of EY Parthenon, 'We can definitely get to 2% inflation in two years' time.'
The first step towards achieving this goal was the recent increase in interest rates, which marked the first hike in three years. This move has been seen as a serious commitment to taming inflation by Wall Street and most economists.
Daco's statement reflects the Fed's newfound optimism about its ability to meet its target. The question now is whether they can sustain their efforts and achieve the desired outcome.
