Fed Warns of Fresh Inflation Pressures Amid Oil Price Spike
The Federal Reserve has warned of new inflationary pressures in the US economy. Governor Lisa Cook stated that the rising cost of oil and the increased demand for goods linked to artificial intelligence may persist as sources of price pressure.
Cook noted that despite a relatively solid labor market, there are still factors hindering the return of inflation to the central bank's 2% target.
The Fed raised interest rates by 25 basis points in September for the first time since 2023, citing high inflation and aiming for a faster return to the 2% target.
