Fed Watchdog Sounds Alarm Over Classified File Breach
The Federal Reserve's internal watchdog has issued a warning to the central bank about potential security breaches. The Office of Inspector General found that an employee in the Division of International Finance had announced plans to retire and remove files before their departure.
The audit, which was part of an investigation into the off-boarding process for departing employees, revealed that the individual made these requests in February 2024.
The Office of Inspector General has recommended that the Federal Reserve tighten its oversight of classified information to prevent similar incidents in the future.
