Federal Reserve Hikes Interest Rates Amid Iran War
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh delivered remarks on June 17, 2025, after the central bank raised interest rates by 0.25 percent to combat inflation amid the Iran war.
The Federal Open Market Committee voted unanimously to increase the rate to a range of 3.75 to 4 percent, its first hike in over three years and the first time in nearly a year it touched 4 percent.
The decision comes despite growing pressure from President Trump to slash rates, which may strain Warsh's relationship with the president.
