Federal Reserve Hikes Rate for First Time Since 2023
The Federal Reserve, led by Chair Kevin Warsh, has taken its first step in adjusting monetary policy since July 2023. The central bank raised the federal funds rate by 25 basis points on September 16, 2026.
This increase brings the federal funds rate to between 3.75% and 4%. This marks a significant shift in American monetary policy, as it follows a period of stagnation since the previous hike.
