Feds First Rate Hike in Three Years Leaves US Stock Futures Trading Mixed
The Federal Reserve's first interest rate hike in three years has left US stock futures trading mixed overnight. Dow futures climbed 0.02%, while the S&P 500 fell 0.06% and the Nasdaq-100 edged 0.19% lower at 10:31 PM EDT.
The benchmark indexes closed higher on Thursday after a dip in oil prices and long-dated yields following the Fed's rate-hike move. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.61%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite gained 1.14% and 1.69%, respectively.
Rebecca Walser, CEO of Walser Wealth Management, criticized the Fed's decision, saying it played 'status quo' by hiking rates, adding that the Fed's 2% inflation target 'will never happen.' She argued markets have to be invested in the technology revolution, despite potential volatility ahead of the mid-term elections.
