Fed's Treasury Bill Purchases Spark Crypto Optimism Amid Tighter Monetary Conditions
The Federal Reserve's recent Treasury bill schedule has sparked optimism among crypto traders, despite being routine reinvestments rather than a new monetary easing program.
The Fed plans about $15.6 billion in Treasury bill purchases between September 15 and October 14, with five operations carrying maximum sizes ranging from $1.946 billion to $3.891 billion each.
The purchases are part of the existing portfolio strategy, where principal payments from agency securities are reinvested into Treasury bills to maintain the Fed's portfolio.
Crypto traders have been tracking the multi-week buys as Bitcoin traded above $78,000 and Ether moved above $2,500, but the optimism comes despite a tighter monetary backdrop.
