Fed's Warsh Paints Bullish Picture for Global Economy
Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh told G20 finance leaders that the world is experiencing a global investment surge, marking a shift from previous savings gluts. This change has driven growth, and Warsh noted that conditions have reversed since past G20 meetings.
Warsh's comments came during his first international economic policy meeting as Fed chair in Asheville, North Carolina. He expressed his interest in learning more about growth prospects among member economies and acknowledged the shift from savings gluts to investment surges.
The concept of secular stagnation, which suggests growth will slow due to a lack of innovation, no longer applies to the current economy, according to Warsh. This change is significant as it indicates a potential need for interest rate increases to reduce price pressures and bring inflation down to the 2% target.
