French Inflation Hits Two-Year High Amid Rising Energy Prices
The European economy is facing another challenge as French inflation has accelerated to its highest rate in over two years. Statistics agency Insee reported that inflation in France stood at 3.4% in September, up from 2.6% in August. This increase puts pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB) to continue raising interest rates.
The rising oil and natural gas costs are a major contributor to this surge in inflation. As a result, the ECB is likely to maintain its hawkish stance on monetary policy, prioritizing controlling inflation over stimulating economic growth.
