The FTSE 100 index closed at 10,650.44 points on Friday, up 0.34% from Thursday's close.

The gain was due to a drop in oil prices and better-than-expected UK economic data.

A 2% fall in crude oil prices after reports of potential diplomatic breakthroughs in the Strait of Hormuz provided relief to investors, who had been worried about supply disruptions.

The Office for National Statistics reported that the UK economy grew 0.4% in July, beating analyst expectations of 0.3% growth.

Informa led the FTSE 100 gainers with a 2.04% rise, followed by Howden Joinery Group up 1.91%, and Natwest Group adding 1.73%.
